You can Chase Your Dreams AND Raise Babies

I recently went on a work trip to LA for 5 days. It felt like eternity to be away from my 3 children. And before I left, my daughter said ‘I don’t want you to go mommy’ and wrapped her little arms around me SO TIGHT.

It literally crushed my soul hearing her little voice say those words and have her hugging me like it was our last.

And then WHAM….here comes the mommy guilt.

Has this ever happened to you, that wave of mommy guilt?

Do you ever wrestle between motherhood and work?

Maybe work is necessary to help provide for your family…. Maybe you love working so much that you almost feel guilty for yearning to be behind the chair.

And maybe it bothers you because you know how incredibly valuable a mother’s role is in the family. You know how impactful your presence is.

Not to mention, Mommy guilt is REAL!!!

But I want to remind you of something…. You CAN chase your dreams AND raise your babies.

I told my daughter that night how many sleeps it would be until I returned. I told her that while I don’t love being away from her either, she’s going to have a blast with Daddy and that those memories are super important too.

I told her ‘I hope that when you see mommy chasing her dreams it will inspire you to chase yours and never give up.’

When I left her room, I really reflected on how I will continue to prioritize my time.

I’ve learned, work/life balance is a moving target. It truly is a matter of prioritizing what’s meaningful in life.

Here is one question you can ask yourself to bring you immediate clarity when making decisions in work and life:

“What is the BEST, most LOVING thing for me AND my family.”

For me, the answer was to go on the work trip to continue to grow, learn, and provide for my family.

My prayer for you is, as you balance raising your babies and chasing your dreams, that you rest in whatever season you are in, reflecting on your success and staying content along the way.
