Why Comparing yourself is hurting your business
Do you ever wonder why coffee tastes better when it’s cold outside? Or how a chilled watermelon is like heaven on earth in the heat of summer?
I live in Florida and I’m telling you right now, after a long day on the beach or an all-day little league Saturday baseball tournament, there is nothing better than a juicy, almost frozen watermelon to cool off. It’s the actual BEST!
What does that have to do with your business behind the chair? Well, everything.
The ambiance and overall experience play a HUGE role in your client's satisfaction and loyalty to you.
But the problem is, we are constantly comparing ourselves to what other hairstylists are doing vs truly listening to the wants, needs, and desires of our clients.
And the problem with that is, we immediately start to feel like we are doing something wrong. We start to question it all.
Well, I want to challenge you to silence the noise around you and ASK the people who are already investing in you.
I want you to “Do What You Know Your Clients Want, Not What Everyone Else is Doing.”
Start by surveying your guest, and ask them specific questions about their salon experience. Use a Google doc, send it out via email, or print a survey that each client can fill out.
You can also download my Free Audio Series ‘Client Experience Project’ and listen to the clients I interviewed from across the country. I asked them everything from “how thorough is your stylists consultation” to “what they wish they could tell their hairstylist but are afraid to.”
It was honestly so eye-opening!!
Maybe you’ll discover new ways that you can give your clients an experience that feels like a hot coffee on a cold day, or a cool watermelon in the heat of summer.
